EUROPE recap, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hello everyone. We returned to vancouver Nov 24th from our 2 week german tour just in time to play a set at the GREY CUP festival with KYPRIOS and THE DUDES. The tour was a blast and we had decent crowds at each show, especially considering it was our first time. We met lots of great people along the way, and Manus our booking agent/driver was great! We hope to return to europe again next fall once we’ve released our new record in the summer/spring. We played several of our shows in germany opening up for JOASIAH AND LIZ WOLF from the ANTICON label and members of the band WHY?. They were a great band, and we hit the town with them after the shows both in Hamburg and Berlin. The highlights of the tour other then the shows were really just seeing some sights along the way including some castles, a concentration camp, wine country, the red light district in hamburg, the hip streets of berlin, and an old american spy base from the cold war. The whole tour went off without a hitch until on our train ride home dana’s bag got stolen in a train station while we waited to transfer. After a miraculous chain of events including spotting someone with the bag, chasing them through the city at 5am, a police swat team making an arrest and identifying the culprit at the police station, dana got the bag back and we still made our flight home. We are happy to have finally set the date for our album to be finished mixing by jan 28th, and Ill have exciting news about its release in the new year. In the meantime im off to mexico for 3 weeks, so HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!!!

EUROPEAN TOUR LEAVES IN 1 DAY!

Hello everyone, dan here from bend sinister. I must apologize that over the summer we got caught up with recording and life and didn’t post any new news or blogs to the site. We did have an exciting summer though playing some festivals in Alberta, An outdoor benefit in Nanaimo called Green Mountain Music Festival, and capped off the summer with LIVE AT SQUAMISH playing with Metric and Stars and Weezer. I myself kept busy working on the score for the comedy feature by Carl Bessai, ‘SISTERS AND BROTHERS’ which premiered at TIFF in september. I was also in Toronto for the screening and did a few solo shows there, as well as many here in Vancouver. To hear a taste of the sounds from our new record we released a Billy Joel cover we recorded during the sessions which you can hear here:

Over the fall we did OLIO festival in vancouver playing a roof top party and when we return from Europe we will be playing NOV 25 in downtown vancouver with the DUDES and KYPRIOS for the GREY CUP STREET FESTIVAL.

Anyway, We are very excited for our trip to Europe, even though it is a short tour. We are basically touring Germany after a booking agent reached out to us to book at tour there this summer. We received wonderful funding from MUSIC BC and enough from the shows to cover expenses. So at long last we get to head to Europe for our first tour there, and I hope that if all goes well, it will open the door to more extensive European touring and perhaps representation in the the future. So we are still working on our brand new studio record which we recorded the drums/bass last weekend. We got through 16 tracks in 2 days and are very excited about it. In the meantime however, we also started a new BANDCAMP site where you can stream our entire catalogue of music and purchase if you like too. VANCOUVER’S 125th BIRTHDAY

Hello Everyone! Dan here. So we played VANCOUVER’s 125th Birthday yesterday and it was a great show. Around 8000 peeps showed up and we played on as the sun set over the mountains. It was great. You can see some photos here

Just announced we are going to be playing WHISTLER TELUS SKI AND SNOWBOARD FESTIVAL coming up at the fashion show on april 22nd. and we also just got added to the SQUAMISH MUSIC FESTIVAL which happens late august including metric and weezer. gonna be super fun!!

Hello everyone, We’ve been busy rehearsing with new bass player MATT RHODES and preparing for a new album we are going in to record in april! The album is going to be one of the most dynamic yet with the incorporation of some material from DAN and DANA’s DEEP PURPLE-esq side project SMALL FAME. It will be a roller coaster of POP, ROCK, and a touch of METAL! We are all very excited to get back into the studio and make it the best record yet!

exciting times ahead, but no immediate plans to tour til we get this album recorded. Also in sad news, our Van bit the dust after having pumped almost 6000$ of our peak performance winnings into repairs last year, and I had to sell it off for a measly 1400$. Now we have to raise the funds to buy another van…. the life of a touring band. Cheers

Hello Dan here from bend sinister. I have neglected to write a blog this past month since returning from our cross Canada tour with Library Voices and the Paper Lions. As soon as we returned I disappeared for a couple weeks doing the master-cleanse only to pop out for a performance with the ODDS for shore 104.3 Music Saves video premiere. It was a great night and it was amazing to play keyboards the whole eve with a band that I was a big fan of growing up. In Bend Sinister land we parted ways with our management due to complexities to long winded to explain, so we are now breathing the fresh air of having no representation which feels nice for a change. We are exploring other opportunities now while I sit at home and try to come up with some more songs for a new record. Our label distort is on board for us to record a full length record in the early new year, we now are just trying to write a few more songs to give ourselves options. We recorded the 10 demos in Toronto which would be the start of our new record, and I’ve got another 5 or so songs on deck that we are recording demos of now. In other news Alex our bass player who joined us for the last tour did an amazing job, however he has plans to move to Edmonton in the new year so we are once again searching for a replacement in the bass world. We are not rushing the matter, in fact we have not even started searching, but we hope to have found and trained someone by the time february rolls around. Alex will continue to play with us til he departs, and we wish him the best of luck in the bitter bitter cold of northern alberta.. lol. On a final note the fate of our Van is still undecided. It is at the mechanics right now, but we are at the point where we can’t afford to put much more $$ into the beast but aren’t sure whether we can sell it or scrap it. This year alone with the thanks of our peak money we sunk over 6000$ dollars into fix ups while on the road for over 6 months this year. Now the engine has a rattle which could mean the end of the line.. and sadly we have officially spent all 50,000$ we earned from the peak performance project.. Anyway big things in the new year!!!
